NAME

elapert -- Create elliptical apertures for polygonal photometry.

USAGE

elapert table polygons coords

DESCRIPTION

This task creates one or two files that will provide elliptical polygonal apertures to the noao.apphot.polyphot task when doing polygonal aperture photometry.

This task reads the table produced by the ellipse task. The output file, polygon, will contain polygon vertices. Optionally, polygon center coordinates will be stored in a file specified by the coords parameter.

The input table is scanned, row by row, for each isophote. In the output table a corresponding set of vertices (X,Y pairs) will be appended to these rows.

The input table is processed as is; if you want the elliptical apertures to have specific sizes, use e.g. the ttools.trebin task to rebin the original table into the desired sizes.

PARAMETERS

table [file name]

Table created by ellipse.

polygons [file name]

Output file that will contain polygon vertices.

coords [file name]

Output file containing polygon centers. If coords contains a null string (""), no file is created, otherwise, it will contain the ellipse centers for each isophote.
