im2gki -- Render an image to a IRAF GIO Graphics device.
im2gki input
im2gki is a prototype routine that takes an image, scales it to a
range of 256 values, and renders the image onto an IRAF Graphics
device.
- input [file name]
- The image to render. Only one image is handled at a time.
- (cmap) [file name]
- If specified, this is the file name of a color map produced by the
SAOImage write button under the color and cmap buttons. If cmap is
not specified,
the image is rendered in a grey scale.
- (preserve = yes) [boolean]
- Preserve the aspect ratio of the image?
The
image may not fill the area of the device to which it is being
written (as specified by the left, top, right, and
bottom parameters. If
preserver = no, the image will fill the region specified, regardless
of aspect ratios.
- (function = "linear") [string, Allowed values: linear | log | none]
- The type of function to use to scale the image to the 256 entry range
of the output. If "none" is specified, values are simply truncated.
- (zscale = no) [boolean]
- Find the mean and standard deviation of the image and set high and low
values to one sigma around the mean?
If zscale = no (the default),
then the low and high values are as specified by low and high
parameters.
- (low = INDEF) [real]
- If zscale = no, this is the value in the image that corresponds to the
lowest color index in the resulting output. This is normally black,
but is color map dependent. If low = INDEF, the minimum value of the
image is found and used.
- (high = INDEF) [real]
- If zscale = no, this is the value in the image that corresponds to the
highest color index in the resulting output. This is normally white,
but is color map dependent. If high = INDEF, the maximum value of the
image is found and used.
- (left = 0., right = 1., bottom = 0., top = 1.) [real]
- The positions of the sides, in normalized device coordinates (NDC),
where the image will be located. NDC runs from bottom left (0,0) to
the top right (1,1).
- (device = stdplot) [string]
- The name of the IRAF GIO graphics device that is capable of rendering
images.
- (append = no) [boolean]
- Append to previously specified plot?
If this is set to "yes", the task will ignore
the left, right, top, and bottom parameters and
draw the plot on the previously-specified device.
1. Print the image current displayed in SAOImage using the current
color map and write it to the upper right quadrant of the output device.
cl> dsimg 1 sao.hhh
....Use the saoimage buttons to write the color map file
....to a file named sao.cmap
cl> im2gki sao.hhh cmap=sao.cmap function=none left=.5
>>> right=1. bottom=.5 top=1.
The concept of scaling is probably not necessary, but is convenient
because it is so common.
