NAME

mka2d -- Create or modify an A-to-D correction reference file for WF/PC.

USAGE

mka2d infile outfile option errtable bay3temp

DESCRIPTION

This task creates or updates an A-to-D error correction reference file. Each A-to-D error correction reference file has four groups, each group corresponds to one detector. Each group has 4096 points which is the possible digital number (DN) can be registered by 12 bits. When constructing a new set of A-to-D corrections at certain Bay 3 temperature, a set of 48 (12 x 4) bit-errors are required in the form of an STSDAS table. The first row in the A-to-D reference file contains the temperature information, i.e. the second pixel in this row is the bay 3 temperature corresponding to the A-to-D corrections contained in the second row of this file. The following operation options are provided in this task:

(1) new - Use this option if you are constructing your very first A-to-D reference file. You need a template as input file to copy all necessary header information. The output will just have one row of A-to-D corrections.

(2) add - Use this option when you want to add a new set of A-to-D corrections corresponding to a different bay 3 temperature. This operation will increase the second dimension of the reference file by one and put the new bay 3 temperature at the corresponding pixel in the first row of the file. The input and the output file can be same. If the value of outfile is null, blank or ".", it is regarded as being the same as the input file.

(3) delete - Use this option when you want to delete a set of A-to-D corrections from an existing A-to-D reference file. The row which has a bay 3 temperature most close to the specified temperature will be deleted. This operation will decrease the second dimension of the reference file by one and remove the bay 3 temperature at the corresponding pixel in the first row of the file. The input and the output file can be same. If the value of outfile is null, blank or ".", it is regarded as being the same as the input file. No error table is needed for this option.

(4) list - Use this option to print a listing of bay 3 temperatures already in a given A-to-D reference file. No error table or bay 3 temperature or output file are needed for this option.

A warning will be issued if any of the bit-errors is too large. For example, if the bit 4 error is 4.2 and will therefore overtake the bit 8 registration, a warning message will be sent and the result will not be reliable.

PARAMETERS

Name of the input A-to-D reference file.
outfile = "" [string]
Name of the output A-to-D reference file.
option = "add" [string, allowed values = "add | new | list | delete"]
Operation options.
errtable = "" [string]
Name of the STSDAS table containing bits errors. It has the following columns:
DETECTOR	Detector number can only be either from 
		1 to 4 (WF) or from 5 to 8 (PC). (int)
BIT		Bit ID, must be a power of 2 
		(1, 2, 4, 8, ..., 2048).  (int)
ERROR		The bit errors of the A-to-D convertor. (real)
bay3temp = [real, min = 0]
Bay 3 temperature corresponding to the errors in errtable, in degrees Kelvin.

EXAMPLES

1. Create a new A-to-D reference file atod.r1h. Use the file wref$jchsu.r1h as a template. Use bit errors from the table file err.tab and a Bay 3 temperature of 200 degrees Kelvin.

2. Add a new line to the A-to-D reference file atod.r1h. Use bit errors from the table file err.tab and a Bay 3 temperature of 250 degrees Kelvin. You must have write privilege to atod.r1h.
