NAME

ndark -- builds the DARKFILE reference file for the NICMOS calibration pipeline.

USAGE

ndark input output

DESCRIPTION

This is a simple CL script task that builds the reference file with dark exposures needed for the NICMOS pipeline program CALNICA.

The output file is built by appending each of the input file's first NICMOS IMSET into the output file. Output IMSETs are ordered into ascending EXTVER sequence. Additional IMSETs in each input file are ignored.

The integration time in each input file is assumed to be specified by the "PIXVALUE" keyword in the TIME extension. That is, only dark exposures with the same integration time for all pixels are acceptable. The task does not make any consistency checks on this and other parameters. If the "PIXVALUE" keyword is not found, the input file is appended to the output file but with a zeroed integration time (this is properly handled by CALNICA).

The output file inherits its Primary Header Unit from the first dark exposure in the input list. This header is appended with the NUMEXPOS keyword, as well as with the EXPOS_ keywords that specify the integration time corresponding to each output IMSET.

The dark exposures are appended in increasing order of integration time.

PARAMETERS

input = "" [file name list/template]
Input dark exposure name template.
outfile = "" [file]
Name of the output DARKFILE file.
(tempdir = "tmp$") [file]
