NAME

psfextr -- Extract a subsection of an image to be put in the PSF library.

USAGE

psfextr infile outfile xcenter ycenter xsize ysize origin

DESCRIPTION

This task is used to extract an image subsection from an input image and copy it to an output image having a specific file header. The output image is to be put in a PSF image library later.

PARAMETERS

infile = "" [string]
Name of the input science data file (a file name template can be used to process several files).
outfile = "" [string]
Name of the output file (or a file template). The output file has the following header:

ycenter [real, min = 1]
Y coordinate of the PSF center.
xsize = [integer, min = 0]
X dimension of the subsection. If xsize or ysize is zero, the entire input image will be copied to the output image.
ysize = [integer, min = 0]
Y dimension of the subsection. If xsize or ysize is zero, the entire input image will be copied to the output image.
origin [string]
origin of the input image, i.e., "hst", "tim", or others.
(dummy) = "wfpc$tmplpsf.hhh" [string]
Name of the PSF template file header.

EXAMPLES

1. Extract a 15 x 15 image subsection centered at (123,150) of the image input.d0h and write it to the output image output.hhh.

w_> psfextr input.d0h output.hhh xcenter=123 ycenter=150 xsize=15 \
>>>   ysize=15 origin="hst" 

REFERENCE

BUGS

A harmless warning message "Cannot open pixfile to read GPB" will appear. This is because that the PSF header template file has no data file.
