NAME

qpaddaux -- add an Einstein or ROSAT auxiliary file to a qpoe file

USAGE

qpaddaux qpoe aux type

DESCRIPTION

qpaddaux adds an auxiliary data file to a qpoe file. The file types that can be added are: blt (Einstein blt files, used in spectral analysis), tgr (Einstein tgr files, used in calculating good time intervals), gti (ROSAT gti files, used in calculating good time intervals), or tsh (temporal status history files. ROSAT tsh files, not currently used). In addition, there is a special type - convtgr - that will convert TGR records already in the QPOE file, into the more general TSI format, now used by ROSAT and other missions. The tgr and gti files are normally added when the qpoe file is made (using xpr2qp, img2qp, toe2qp, etc.) but can be added later using this task. The blt file must be added using this task. The tsh file is currently only used by the development team. When a tgr file is added, the corresponding gti records are also added.

PARAMETERS

qpoe = "" prompt = input qpoe file name

The input qpoe file name. The file must have a ".qp" extension, but may be specified with or without the extension.

aux = "" prompt = auxiliary file to add

The input auxiliary header file name. This can be one of the following file types: blt (Einstein blt files, used in spectral analysis), tgr (Einstein tgr files, used in calculating good time intervals), gti (ROSAT gti files, used in calculating good time intervals), or tsh (ROSAT tsh files, not currently used).

To use the convtgr option, just set aux = "" (empty string), and the TGR records already in the QPOE file will be read and converted to TSI format.

type = "" prompt = type of aux file

The type of data being added. This can be one of the following, corresponding to the file types listed above: "blt", "tgr", "tgi", "tsh", "convtgr".

(display = 1) [int]

The display level. A display level of 0 generates no display. A display level of 4 generates a display of the aux file information.

(datarep = 1) [int]

The type of data representation conversion required. 0 implies no conversion of data formats. 1 implies conversion from DG format to host format, while 2 converts from Vax format.

EXAMPLES

1. Add a blt file to an already existing qpoe file, in preparation for spectral analysis.

cl> qpaddaux i8933.qp i8933.blt "blt"

2. Convert the OLD tgr records in an existing Einstein QPOE file into NEW tsi records. This will facilitate data screening. (See help hkfilter).

xd> qpcopy xdata$snr.qp "" snr.qp ""
    qpaddaux snr.qp "" "convtgr"

TIME REQUIREMENTS

This task takes a few seconds.
