MultiDrizzle Papers

Papers and presentations have been made in several venues regarding MultiDrizzle and its development.  A collection of the most recent or descriptive papers and presentations are made available for reference.

PyCon DC 2005 Presentation
The MultiDrizzle presentation (PDF) given at the PyCon DC 2005 conference on 23 Mar 2005.  This presentation illustrates how MultiDrizzle works, and describes how PyFITS and numarray were used to solve implementation problems, such as supporting arbitrary numbers of input images without memory problems.

ADASS 2004 Presentation

The MultiDrizzle poster paper (PDF) presented at ADASS 2004 which describes the redesigned version of MultiDrizzle distributed with STSDAS v3.3 in Nov 2004.

MultiDrizzle Pipeline Implementation

The implementation of MultiDrizzle for the pipeline(PDF), as derived from the initial prototype released with STSDAS V3.2, was described at the SciPy 2004 conference.

Anton's Multidrizzle Page

Anton's Multidrizzle Page describes the algorithm and parameters developed for the prototype version of MultiDrizzle distributed with STSDAS Version 3.2 in Jan 2004.

MultiDrizzle Reference

This MultiDrizzle poster presentation, published as part of the HST Calibration Workshop 2002, described the initial implementation of MultiDrizzle and should be used when referencing the use of MultiDrizzle for data analysis. The reference should be:
A. Koekemoer, A. Fruchter, R. Hook, W. Hack, 2002 HST Calibration Workshop, p. 337

Several reports have been written to document the use of Multidrizzle or the algorithms used, or even how to plan observations to take advantage of Multidrizzle's capabilities.  These are provided here as additional reference material beyond what has been included in the Multidrizzle Handbook.
Dither Handbook The Dither Handbook provides background material on the algorithms used in Multidrizzle, along with examples of how to use the original STSDAS 'dither' package tasks.
Draft Multidrizzle User's Guide
This draft of the first chapter of a Multidrizzle User's guide provides a working example of how to use Multidrizzle, and describes the original set of parameters for Multidrizzle.
Shiftfile Description
This preliminary paper describes the conventions used by the shiftfile as used for correcting the alignment of images combined by Multidrizzle.
